Purpose
Sports and Recreation Program is a community centred initiative aimed at promoting physical activity, inclusion, mental well-being, and social connection through organized sports, outdoor activities, and recreational opportunities. The program is designed to make sports and recreation accessible to all Canadians, regardless of age, ability, income level, or background.
This initiative aligns with national strategies such as the Canadian Sport Policy (2012), the Physical Activity Guidelines by Health Canada, and the Inclusive Recreation Guidelines that promote participation, healthy living, and the development of safe and welcoming recreational environments. The program plays a vital role in fostering community spirit, reducing isolation, improving public health, and engaging youth in positive development.
