Oxford Community Environment Initiative

Oxford Community Environment Initiative is a collaborative initiative designed to empower residents of Woodstock and surrounding areas to take meaningful action in protecting our environment and building climate-resilient communities.

This project aligns with our Environment and Climate Action Program and supports Canada’s national climate goals.

The project seeks to foster environmental responsibility, civic pride, and intergenerational engagement through hands-on activities, education, and community partnerships.

 Key Activities

  • Neighbourhood Clean-Up Campaigns
Monthly litter-picking drives in parks, trails, and residential areas to promote cleaner, safer public spaces.

  • Tree Planting & Urban Greening
Co-hosting tree planting events with stakeholders on National Tree Day (Sept 24–27) and Arbor Day, with a focus on native species and biodiversity enhancement.

  • Climate Education & Awareness
Workshops, forums, and community events to build climate literacy and promote sustainable living practices.

  • Youth & Senior Engagement
Launching an Intergenerational Eco-Leaders Program to connect youth and seniors in leading local environmental projects.

  • Community Partnerships & Advocacy
Collaborating with Indigenous groups, schools, and local organizations to integrate traditional ecological knowledge and advocate for sustainable policies.

Why It Matters
