Purpose

Education & Career Advancement Program is designed to support individuals—particularly youth, newcomers, marginalized populations, and underemployed adults—in pursuing higher education and achieving meaningful, sustainable careers. In an increasingly knowledge-driven and competitive global economy, this program aims to close educational and employment gaps by equipping participants with the skills, guidance, and resources they need to succeed academically and professionally.

ECAP supports Canada’s national priorities in workforce development, lifelong learning, and economic inclusion. It is aligned with federal and provincial employment strategies, the Canadian Education Association’s initiatives, and the goals outlined in Canada’s Skills for Success model.

Objectives

  1. Improve Access to Education and Skills Training
    Remove financial, social, and informational barriers to post-secondary education, vocational training, and certifications.
  2. Promote Career Readiness and Employability
    Equip participants with job-specific skills, soft skills, and workplace knowledge to enhance employment opportunities.

Key Activities

  1. Career Counselling and Academic Advising
    Provide one-on-one guidance to help participants identify their interests, set goals, and build personalized education and career plans.
  2. Scholarships and Financial Aid Support
    Offer assistance in applying for scholarships, grants, student loans, and bursaries to ease the financial burden of education.
  3. Workplace Readiness Training
    Deliver workshops on resume building, interview skills, workplace etiquette, communication, and problem-solving.
  4. Internships and Job Placement Programs
    Partner with businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies to create internship and co-op opportunities for real-world experience.
  5. Vocational and Technical Training
    Provide access to short-term certificate and diploma programs in high-demand sectors such as healthcare, technology, trades, and environmental services.
  6. Mentorship and Alumni Networking
    Connect participants with industry professionals, alumni, and role models for guidance, encouragement, and professional networking.
